Last week, I posted the above chart that was being shared on Twitter as I think it is a fantastic way for anyone struggling with anxiety or their mental health to check in and reset themselves in a positive direction.
This chart has been created as inspiration for those who need guidance when they are their lowest. While I am certainly not on my lowest (in fact I’ve had pretty great week/day), I would like to constantly start checking in with myself using the chart above as inspiration because it allows me to reflect on whether I have made healthy decisions.
Based on today, here’s how I’m doing:
1. Are you hydrated?
No- I have had a cup of coconut water and coke zero but no straight up water. I have a bottle of water next to me and the minute I looked at this questions I have no drunken the whole bottle. Check.
2. Have you eaten in the past three hours?
Yes 🙂 My boyfriend made a lovely chicken salad with a blue cheese dressing. Check.
3. Have you stretched your legs in the past day?
Yes, this morning- however it is now midnight so a lot of time has passed. I will do a quick stretch session before going to bed. Check.
4. Have you said something nice to someone in the past day?
Yes 🙂 I told my boyfriend how much I loved him and thanked him for simply being who he is 🙂 Check.
5. Have you moved your body to music in the past day?
No- but it’s a great idea! I have watched loads of dance videos today coincidentally but did so while lying in bed XD A bit late now as I’m feeling sleepy, but I think I’ll start the morning with a healthy booty shaking sesh (thinking of Bon Appetite by Katy Perry)
6. Have you cuddled a living being in the past two days?
Yes, my loving boyfriend who I feel very thankful to be living with 🙂 Check.
7. Have you seen a therapist in the past few days?
No- and I am not currently seeing a therapist as I am at a point in my anxiety where I feel confident in managing it myself. However, I have been to a therapy many times in the past and strongly encourage it to anyone who feels like they need direction in how to look after themselves 🙂
8. Have you changed any of your medications?
NA (not currently taking any medications). Interesting point the chart makes though about how if we are, we should reflect upon how that can significantly impact are mood and perception of our day.
9. If it’s daytime, are you dressed?
It’s night time for me!
10. If it’s nighttime, are you sleepy and fatigued but resisting going to sleep?
It’s midnight but I am not feel sleepy or fatigued. I am feeling quite content writing at this time, it is Saturday after all and I’m not working tomorrow so not feeling pressured as no alarm is on 🙂
11. Do you feel ineffective?
No- and this blog is the reason why I don’t. Check.
12. Do you feel unattractive?
I’m feeling pretty darn gorgeous. Check.
13. Do you feel paralysed by indecision?
No- today I am living in today and feel confident in my choices. Check.
14. Have you overly exerted yourself lately?
Yes, at work. However today I have disconnected myself from it and taken a step back, I am enjoying my weekend!
15. Have you waited a week?
Not really applicable but considering it’s been a rough week at work with some tough obstacles that have come, today has been a great day to take a step and have a different perspective. All will be okay 🙂
